Faster feedback loops in a monorepo

Build time is an engineering throughput problem. When every change waits for a long pipeline, developers batch work, context-switch more often, and receive feedback after the code is no longer fresh.

Measure the critical path first
#

Instrument the pipeline by stage: checkout, dependency preparation, compilation, tests, packaging, and deploy. Optimise the longest serial stages before chasing small parallel wins.

Make the common path cheap
#

Avoid rebuilding work that did not change. Cache safe dependencies, run affected-target checks when the repository supports them, and move non-blocking validation out of the fastest feedback path.

Protect trust in the pipeline
#

Speed is only useful when results are dependable. Keep failures attributable, make logs easy to navigate, and use a small number of well-owned pipeline primitives. The goal is not a clever CI setup; it is a feedback loop developers trust enough to use continuously.
